Wyndham

Dominated by the sheer granite face of Jingera Rock, Wyndham is a small community in the rugged heart of the Bega Valley that bears witness to a change in the local landscape.

The green, free flowing hills of the valley start to merge with the higher altitudes of the southern Monaro. A car trip or motorbike ride through this environment is exhilarating, as you wind your way through steep river valleys. Part supermarket, part Post Office, part restaurant, part petrol station, the Wyndham General Store has been a focal point for generations of residents. Markets in the town on the forth Sunday of each month provide added incentive to experience this distinctive countryside. A dedicated band of volunteers at the Rural Fire Service play an active role in Wyndham’s sense of community and resilience.

Meanwhile property in Wyndham allows you to express your personality and life’s ambitions, opening your mind and giving you plenty of options only 3 hours from Canberra with a mix of frontier, historic housing, traditional farming estates and handcrafted homes.

In addition to the nearby state-of-the-art Bega Hospital, Bemboka parents and carers are spoilt for choice when it comes to education. This country community has all the government and non-government choices of a metropolitan area, but generally speaking without the price tag. This rural – coastal environment enlivens and child’s education, and mixed with a dynamic local arts community Bega Valley children get a unique experience.

Local schools include Wyndham Public School, Eden Marine High School, Bega High School, Mumbulla School for Rudolf Steiner Education, Thomas More Christian Montessori School, Sapphire Coast Anglican College, and Lumen Christi Catholic College. In later years the University of Wollongong – Bega Campus boasts an increasing variety of subjects, and just announced – a new state of the art purpose built TAFE campus for Bega.
